What is an Enrichment Parent? An Enrichment Parent (or “Room Mom”) serves as a liaison between the parents and teacher in your child’s class. The Enrichment Parent (EP) will meet with the teacher to determine his/her needs from parents with regard to all the activities of the year. The EP will be responsible for recruiting parents to fulfill these needs. In addition, the EPs will ensure that there is a classroom volunteer for specific PTA functions. At least 2 volunteers are needed per class, to work as an Enrichment Parent “team.”
What is a Classroom Coordinator? Parent that helps coordinate volunteers from the class for various PTA sponsored events. One parent is needed for each of the following events:
Teacher & Staff Appreciation (Year Long) This coordinator will recruit parents to assist with Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week and semi-monthly teacher snacks.
Book Fair Coordinator (Nov /Mar )This coordinator will recruit parents to work shifts for the Book Fair.
STEM@Root This coordinator will recruit volunteers to help with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) enrichment throughout the year.
Fun-in-the Sun (May) This coordinator will recruit volunteers to work shifts during our annual field day event
What are other ways I can help throughout the year? Tutoring, Office Guild and Media Center Guild are all great volunteering opportunities to help on a weekly basis. Opportunities that are flexible and can be worked around your schedule. The Office Guild and Media Center Guild are usually one hour shift a week in which you help with clerical duties in the front office or help restock books on the shelves in the Media Center.
